DIRECTV Beats Cable TV

We have been itching to get away from Comcast for a long time. The issue is they suck you in with their bundles that include telepone, hi speed internet, and cable television service. When you try to disconnect one of these, you miss out on the savings of the bundle.

But the cable television service just needs to go, as the channel selection and quality is well below par. There is so much discussion today about HD, there isn’t much choice with Charter Cable. So I started doing a little research on who else was providing service in my area.

I am fortunate to be one of the people who have been given a few options. Unlike most subscribers who can only pick from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite TV, I have another option in my area. The old telephone company in my neighborhood has been upgrading the telephone network. Now there is an additional consideration with Verizon and their fiber optic service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have similar problems. It would put someone in the same boat as with the cable television company, because telephone company want me to bundle their television setup with internet and voice service. If the deal works out well, I’ll be satisfied. Then again if the service is poor you’re in the same situation that I’m in now with the cable operator.  So I’m doing a side by side comparison, cable vs Direct TV so I make the right decision.

Some reviews I found are fairly good on telecom television service. Because it is new, there is always a risk with a new technology like this, and some clients share their poor reviews. Those reviews are the funny, because customers decide to write a dissertation on their poor experience and post it on the web. Unhappy customers badmouth the company like it is some giant conspiracy to screw the customer, as if the corporation does not want to make money!

Another way to go that I’m looking into is of course satellite television. Since we have six television viewers in the house, we have subscribed in the past to a high end cable television bundle. The satellite TV choices are pretty comparable, as the Directv Premier Package and the DISH Network America’s everything package are both right around $105 a month. Sure that’s pretty high for cable TV, but if you make the comparison with treating your family to dinner and a trip to the movies, it really isn’t all that much. Some in my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas programming package looks pretty good. The nice thing is that there are plenty of Direct TV opinions to help me decide which direction to take.
